Excursions

There are two excursions planned during the conference. The first one will take place on Thursday afternoon and will focus on projects of environmental sustainability in Hostětín and its surroundings. More detailed information about visited model environmental projects is provided in brochure “Green inspiration from the White Carpatians – Hostětín model projects of sustainable development” which will be provided to you by the guide of the tour from the Centre Veronika in Hostětín.
The post-conference field excursion on Friday morning will take us to the most important forested and grassland ecosystems of the Bílé Karpaty PLA where we could appreciate the nice views of the highest peak of the mountain range. The excursion will be led by rangers of PLA who will take us trough 6 km route around 3 small specially protected areas. Natural monument Swine’s Nest (PP Sviní hnízdo) is an example of near natural beech forest stand with rich herbaceous layer. Next stop is Natural reserve Dolní Němčí Meadows (PR Dolnoněmčanské louky), meadow enclave found on mountain slopes surrounded by forests. It is well preserved opened landscape with numerous solitary oaks and thermophilous vegetation including many species of orchids. Last protected area called Bahula pits (PP Bahulské jámy) is another example of managed floral grassland distinct with rugged microrelief.
After the excursion we will depart for a lunch in next village called Horní Němčí. There is an option to continue walking down the mountain on foot to reach the restaurant. The walking distance is slightly above 5 km. Alternatively you may opt for car transport.

For a field excursion, we advise you to have appropriate shoes (touristic boots) and clothing! You may find it useful to check weather forecast for the Bílé Karpaty PLA before packing your luggage
