Smoothing a line

The more vertices added the smoother the line. For features that do not have exact borders this is a way to interpolate the border between the measured points.


The vertices are 3 meters apart

For calculation of smooth crown projections and profiles in Field-Map it is used "Ferguson spline curve". Reference can be found here.
  1. Make sure that a line layer is selected
  2. Select the line that you want to smooth
  3. Click the Tools button



  1. Choose the Smooth line item



  1. Type the vertices spacing
  2. Type the heading change
  3. You can show original line and vertices
  4. Click OK
