Searching for a project

Projects are listed by the time of last opening. By clicking more files the browser opens and you can browse for another project.

Reducing the list of recently opened projects

To reduce the list of recently opened projects simply select the unwanted project name and press Delete Item button. This deletes the name of the project from overview list but not the project itself.

Opening the project for the first time

If you are opening a project for the first time and you have not specified a set of plots in the Field-Map Project Manager, then Field-Map first displays a New plot dialog box to establish the

new plot (see Establishing new plot).

Letters ("F", “A”, “S”, “G”, "B") beside the name of the project:

  • "F" stands for a project in FireBird database
  • “A” stands for a project in Access database
  • “S” stands for a project in MS SQL database working on server
  • "G" stands for a project in PostgreSQL database working on server
  • "B" stands for a project in FireBird database working on server

    1. After selecting the project to be opened, Backup window appears, which gives the user possibility to make a backup of his project before its opening in new version of Data Collector.

Note:

When opening an older project in a newer version of Field-Map the backup is automatically created and stored in the same folder (+ subfolder Backup_projectName) as opened project.

When opening an older project that uses an older version of the Firebird database, the database is automatically converted to the new one. Only then is the project structure (meta-database) converted to the new version. We recommend making a manual backup of the entire project before converting the database.
