Union polygons

This function enables to combine polygons from several layers, to save them into one polygonal shapefile and to calculate area of the joined attributes and the ratio between the whole area and the joined polygons.


Get attribute value

Function allows to transfer values from points to the polygons or from polygons to the centroids. It is located in “Tools”.


A result (a shapefile) from function union polygon is stored in directory NameOfProject/ Maps.

  1. Double click a polygon layer to make it active
  2. Click the Tools button



  1. Select the Union Polygons menu item. Union Polygons window appears



  1. Choose the layers that should be combined with the active layer
  2. Define if the result polygon should be limited to the plot boundary
  3. Click the Refresh map button to refresh the map. The map preview is refreshed
  4. Define if the union should be done for the current plot or for all plots
  5. Select the shapefile that will contain the result polygon
  6. Define the fields that will store the calculated area of the joined attributes and the ratio between the whole area and the joined polygons




  1. The created shapefile is stored in a directory from a project in Maps
