Create virtual trees for regeneration – explanation
Since for processing it is necessary to combine both elements (trees and regeneration trees), there has to be a routine which transfers data from “Regeneration” table to the “Trees” table. Inventory Analyst solves this by creating virtual trees (numbered 9000 + ) in the “Tree “ table based on regeneration present on particular inventory plot. Inventory Analyst also fills required attributes as species, DBH if any, height etc. depend on data collected for regeneration on particular plot.

Trees data are usually separated from regeneration data (different tables). This action transfers trees from regeneration layer to the tree layer to form one table holding all information about trees measured on the plot. Inventory Analyst transfers also selected descriptive information as species, height, age and breast height diameter if available.
- New virtual trees do not have any position in a map
- ID starts from 9000
- New filed “Tree_Number” is added into the trees attribute table (because of regeneration is done this way)
Unstocked areas:
Even a plot of a type “forest” does not have to have trees (e.g. forest gap). In this case we can add 1virtual tree, its species would be “unstocked area”. This is the way how to identify unstocked areas.
