Using a pen for mapping
If borders of a geographical entity are not discrete, such as in case of vegetation zones, it is more effective to measure precisely just their general shape (using a laser set) and modify the rest of the border by pen later.
|
- Select the map layer for which you want to allow pen mapping.
- Tag the Allow pen mapping check box.
Now you can add geographical entities by pen or even by a mouse on your PC.

- Untagging this option will disable the layer for any editing (mapping, attributes editing). It becomes a read-only.
- These two options are available only for Data layers. By (un)tagging them you can set if you are allowed to make changes to database in a navigator window.
- Untagging this option disables the layer for mapping. It becomes read-only. Descriptive attributes of the layer are still editable. Mapping buttons are hidden in Field-Map Data Collector (for details see Hiding mapping buttons for locked layers chapter).
- This option enables a user to add geographical entities by pen (field computer) or by mouse (PC). Check this option to enable map editing in Field-Map Data Collector if you are just exploring Field-Map.
- This option is available only for a polygonal layers. It sets whether a multi-polygons can be created and stored in a specific layer or not (for details see Enabling creation of multi-polygons chapter).
- This option is available only for polygonal layers. Untagging this option will disable mapping of lines in polygonal layers.
Note: Since FieldMap X7 it is not possible to map lines into polygon layer anymore.
