Transferring data between projects
In case of a distributed data collection (several field teams with several field computers), it is often necessary to combine subsets of data into one project or to transfer data between projects.
Note:
The database structures of the source and the target projects must be identical. If the source project and the target project structures differ, a transfer will not be possible.
Copy / Move mode
“Copy” mode keeps data in the source project. “Move” mode copies data to the target project and deletes them from the source project.
Transfer protocol
As a manager of several field teams you might need to carry out some kind of administration about what has been done. The Transfer protocol can serve as a receipt for field team leaders.
If a printer is not available at the time of a data transfer between projects, you can store the transfer protocol as a metafile format.
|
- Open the source project.
- Select the menu item Tools > Transfer Data between Projects.
A Transfer Data between Projects window appears.

- Open a target project:
- create a new project with an identical project structure
or
- open an existing project.

- Select plots that you want to transfer in the “List of existing plots” column and move them to the “Plots selected for transfer” column.
- Choose the transfer mode.

- Click the Transfer Data button.
- After data transfer, Field-Map Data Transfer Protocol appears.
- You can print the protocol.
- You can store the transfer protocol as a metafile format.
