Ordering horizontal projections

Horizontal crown projection is measured by obtaining a series of points that trace the perimeter of the crown projection. The horizontal projections are displayed on the map. For a clear visualization it is possible to reorder projections by the height of trees.

Principle of measuring horizontal crown projection

Smoothing

For calculation of smooth crown projections and profiles in Field-Map it is used "Ferguson spline curve". Reference can be found here.

Before measuring horizontal crown projection it is necessary to know the tree position

  1. Switch to the Trees form
  2. Click the Crown projection tab

  1. Click the Measure projection button

Measure the first point on the crown projection using laser

  1. The first point appears in the view
  2. Measure the rest of the points

The horizontal projection continuously appears in the view

Crown projection is finished

  1. Click on Measure projection button to stop measuring
  2. Switch to the map form to see the result
