Non-overlapping polygons

Field-Map calculates area of polygons based on the polygons boundary. Other layers (such as plot border, paths …) may also contribute to the polygon building.

Limit to current map extent

Polygonisation map area is limited by actual map zoom

Incremental mode

In subsequent polygonizations existing polygons remain untouched.

Layers can be locked, i.e. lines cannot be changed during polygonization.

Lines can be filtered by SQL command before polygonization.

Poly-Shape window

Poly-shape application allows to adjust relevant area using common GIS function. There are two ways going through the polygonization routine. Wizard function is fitting for uncomplicated area and manual way using single buttons enable arrange polygonization parameters during procedure.

Implicit line snapping

This function allows automatic line snapping for very short undershoots (see Polygonization settings).

Auto execute wizard steps: Run next step automatically

Simplifies polygonization when using the wizard. Goes through all the necessary steps automatically

  1. Make sure that the polygon layer is active and it contains centroids and that exists line layer with polygon boundaries
  2. Click the Build polygons button

  1. Select Non-overlapping polygons method
  2. Check if you want to limit polygonization to current map extent
  3. Check if you want to use incremental mode
  4. Use the Add layer button to add additional layers

  1. Select layer from the list
  2. You can lock the layer to prevent lines to be changed during polygonization
  3. Optionaly use SQL filter to specify which lines to use from the layer
  4. Check Save topology to save information about left and right polygons to each line
  5. Click OK

  1. You can change layer settings described in steps 9 - 11 later by clicking the Edit button
  2. Click OK
  3. You will be asked to create backup of your project

  1. The Poly-Shape window appears displaying all lines and centroids involved in polygonization
  2. Now use the wizard or go through the steps manually. Single steps of polygonization are explained on the next pages (chapter)

Poly-Shape wizard

It will appears six windows. The fourth window appears and it disappears immediately. Click Perform button and at the end click Finish button.

Optionally, activate (see Polygonization settings below) the "Auto execute wizard steps: Run next step automatically" function and all steps will start automatically without the need to click the Perform button. When a problem occurs, the automated wizard stops so you can solve the problem and resume.

Polygonization settings

You can individually customize and save the polygonization settings.
