Positioning circles inside polygons

Sometimes you may need to establish a subplot inside each existing polygon. Use this function to ensure that circle position has been optimized within polygons, it means that circles cover the largest possible area. If no polygons are selected, then circles are created in all polygons. Otherwise circles are created only in selected polygons.


  1. Double click the polygon layer to make it active
  2. Click the Tools button



  1. Choose Position Circle(s) into Polygon(s) menu item



  1. Select a destination layer (polygon)
  2. Type the radius of circle(s) into edit box
  3. Click OK



  1. Circles appear on the map
