13.15 Height measurement “Distance + Base using Position” mode

“Distance + Base using Position” mode

The mode is particularly useful in dense forests with tall trees (tropical forests) where it is necessary to move faraway from the tree in order to see it’s top. By using positioning and navigation it is possible to move away from the tree and stay georeferenced.

Measured system attributes

Before editing any attributes you have to measure the position of the tree. Find a place from which you can clearly see the tree and use Positioning to obtain your position

Switch to the Trees form
Select the tree
Click the Mode button

Select the Distance + Base using Position mode

The control panel changes its appearance

Click the Tree top button and measure the inclination to the tree top

Measure the inclination to the live crown base

Measure the inclination to dead crown base
