17.1 Positioning
To move to or measure a certain point, the point needs to have its Z co-ordinate (see “Add/Edit point altitude”). In order to be more precise in determining your position you should use two reference points. You will need to switch this option in Settings. The reference points dialog box is divided into two separate list boxes, one for each reference point. Select one point in each list box and measure your position relative to both. Be careful about the order of measurements, otherwise you might obtain a wrong position. Note: While working with angle encoder, there is no other choice than using 2 reference points (regardless of the settings). Azimuth+Horizontal distance When your measuring device does not support online sending of data to field computer and input data from keyboard is turned off in Settings, click AZ/HD button to manually enter horizontal distance, azimuth and inclination. If you want measure at two reference points than you have to tag the function in the Settings
Now aim at the reference pole and send data to the computer
Your position is now referenced and you can measure from this position
