Segments

Segments are sections of a plot (typically concentric circles) with a defined DBH limit. Segments are often used in a statistical inventory. In order to be able to work with segments, you must tick the “Circular plots” or “Plot border from template” checkbox in the “New project” dialog box when creating a new project.

Statistical inventory

A statistical inventory in Field-Map is understood to be a ground-based, statistically representative survey carried out over a network of inventory plots. Sampling intensity (number, size, shape and distribution of inventory plots), list of collected parameters and methodology are project specific. The network of inventory plots has a predefined geographical coordinates prepared prior to fieldwork.

  1. Select the menu item Project > Edit Plot Segment.

  1. Select a segment.
  2. Click the Edit segment button.

  1. Set a Diameter limit.
  2. Click OK.

  1. Tree diameter limit has been updated.
  2. Click the Add segment button.

  1. Type the diameter limit for the inner circle.
  2. Select Circular segment and type Radius or Area
    or
  3. select Segment border from template and
