Deleting layers

When deleting a layer, all child layers will also be deleted. All the data will be irreversibly lost !


Deleting unused tables and shapefiles

When deleting layers from a project structure, the tables and the shapefiles of the deleted layer are not deleted from the project folder. Thus, when deleting layers, Field-Map pops up a “Delete unused tables and shapefiles” window and offers a possibility do delete the tables and shapefiles. It is also possible to delete them later on by choosing the “Tools > Delete Unused Tablesand Shapefiles" function.

  1. Select the layer which you want to delete.



  1. Select the menu item Layers > Delete layer(s) (a) or click the button on the layer toolbar (b).



  1. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.



  1. A new window “Delete Unused Tables and Shapefiles” appears. 
  2. Tag the tables you want to delete.
  3. Tag the "Delete unused shapefiles" check box if you want to delete the shapefiles.
  4. Click OK.



  1. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.



  1. The layer has been deleted.
