Using tools > Transforming map layer

Transforming map layers

Use this tool to convert co-ordinates from map projection to WGS84 and vice versa.


It is also possible to transpose X and Y coordinates or to change the number sign.


Supported file formats:

  • Shapefiles (*.shp)
  • Digital exchange format (*.dxf)
  • MicroStation design file (*.dgn)
  • Autocad drawing database (*.dwg)
  • ArcInfo coverage (*.pat, *.aat)
  • MapInfo format (*.mif/mid, *.tab)
  • Tables (*.mdb, *.dbf, *.xls, *.db)


Choosing a table as an input file 

If working with tables, it is necessary to prepare the destination columns in advance to enable saving the transformed co-ordinates., e.g.:


  1. Select the menu item Tools > Transform Map Layer.
    A Transform map layer dialog window appears.



  1. Choose the map projection to/from which the map should be converted.
  2. Choose the input file.
    1. If converting a table, select the attributes that represents the longitude/latitude and the attributes that represents the Northing/Easting (X / Y respectively, depending the chosen direction of conversion )
  3. Choose the direction of conversion.
  4. Click the Convert co-ordinates button.
