Checking Database Integrity

The Check Database integrity function is similar to the Check Data function in Field-Map Data Collector. However, Check Database Integrity also deals with relations of lookup lists and it also checks multiple plots.

Check data function of Field-Map Data Collector only searches for empty records of required attributes and it only applies to the opened plot.

The Check database integrity function also handles “lost records”.

Lost records

A lost record is a record for which a corresponding parent table record does not exist (an ID of each record contains a reference identification to the respective parent record)

Note:

There might be records in a database which do not meet a condition under a conditional table (e.g., when a user changes a condition and rejects an offer to delete the conditional table). These records, however, are not considered to be lost records.

  1. Select the menu item Tools > Check Database Integrity.

  1. Select the plots to be checked.

  1. If desired, check the option “Check missing values”.
  2. You can also check the “Delete lost records” option.
  3. Click the Check Database Integrity button.

  1. A list of errors appears in a new window (if any) and it is saved in a log file.
