13.9 Downloading DBH data from calliper on-line

Wirelles calliper

When you are using wireless calliper, one of the COM ports has to be assigned exclusively to this device (radio communication), all other equipment has to communicate through other ports.

On-line (wireless) callipers support two modes:

• only diameter

• species + diameter, data can be split by a script and stored in the Species and DBH attributes

Automatic value posting

Please note that attribute values received from a wireless calliper can be automatically posted to corresponding layers without manual confirmation. For more information see the Equipment settings chapter.

Downloading DBH data from calliper on-line

Make sure the positions of the trees has been measured and the on-line measurement is set in Field-Map settings

Switch to the Trees form

The sub-window for receiving data from the wireless calliper is in the left upper part

When data is received the DBH information appears in the list

Select the appropriate tree
Click Post button

Data is downloaded to the database

Repeat steps 3 and 4 as many times as necessary

Note:

On-line calliper can be used in any type of layer (not just for tree layer). There can be even multiple attributes of diameter. The order in which the values of multiple attributes are fetched can be set in the settings.
