Map projection

While importing a plot border from shapefile, you need to specify a map projection of imported shapefile. For this reason it is necessary to define the map projection parameters first. (see chapter Georeferencing/Adding new system).

Selection settings

You can define the way of polygons’ selection.

Select Polygons Intersecting Rectangle – marks polygon(s) which were intersect by a selection rectangle

Select Polygons Inside Rectangle - marks polygon(s) which were entire inside a selection rectangle

Single polygon – marks only selected polygon

Multipolygon – marks selected polygon and other polygon(s) with identical centroid (ID)

  1. Switch to the Plots form
  2. Click the New plot button

  1. Type ID in "ID" edit box
  2. Enter a name in "Name" edit box
  3. Click the Import shapefile radio button
  4. Select the map projection from the list
  5. Click the Open shapefile button

  1. Browse for the location of your plot border shapefile
  2. Select the shapefile (polygonal type)
  3. Adjust a way of selection by selection Settings

Select the way of the new plot creation

  1. Use boundary polygon to mark selected area or
  2. Use boundary rectangle to mark selected area

  1. Marked Polygons turn green
  2. Click OK to return to the “New plot” form

Actually three polygons are selected

  1. Confirm OK button to establish the plot

  1. Field-Map creates the new plot and selected plot border appears on the map

Note:

If you have selected more than one polygon, Field-Map Data Collector automatically combines them into a single polygon and erases all internal borders.
