In this chapter:

Points are one of the basic types of geographic entities. Each point is defined by X,Y and optionally Z co-ordinates. Points are mostly used for objects that have small dimensions and can be simplified into points. Sometimes these objects have no dimensions at all (e.g. middle of research area, observation points, etc.)

Points, as any other entities, may contain a number of attributes. These attributes are displayed and may be edited in the “form” of each particular point layer.

Basic operation with points:

Selecting a point

Adding a point

Deleting a point

Moving a point

Editing points’ attributes

Importing points

Generating grids of points

Creating a buffer around points
